All About Aquapole™

Kiwi Showers is a privately owned New Zealand company in the business of designing and manufacturing the innovative Stainless Steel Shower System for new bathrooms, renovations or outdoor showers.

The Company was formed when two friends, one of whom has had over 40 years of plumbing experience, came up with a new range of concepts in stainless steel shower design never seen in the market before.

Barry Godfrey - Director

Kiwi Showers Director Born and bred West Coaster I was raised on the family dairy farm at Kowhitirangi, tucked right under the Southern Alps, 30km South East of Hokitika. This upbringing was my first taste of “do it yourself engineering”.

Being the youngest in the family there was no room for me on the farm so I worked for Westland Co-Op Dairy where I was a Butter maker. It was during the winter months that the staff then became maintenance workers. This was my first use of Stainless Steel Tube; little did I realise how much this was going to benefit at a later date.

With my love of the outdoors I eventually left to become a full time opossum hunter when the fur trade was at its peak in the 1970’s. Skin prices were phenomenal! This allowed us to purchase our own helicopter for this purpose. Not long after purchasing the helicopter the World fur trade came to an end as we new it. Ironically, our helicopter registration was HIV.

It was then I was recruited to join the Insurance Industry where I was successful in achieving a number of sales awards. It was during this time I started running and completed several marathons, many triathlons, and four Coast to Coast Events.

Thirteen years later I sold my Insurance business and moved to Christchurch where I was involved in Mortgage Broking for a short period.

It was about this time while we were holidaying in Nelson and using a conventional open wet floor
shower that the idea of changing the way a shower was designed and installed came to me. Sometime later a meeting with Duncan, who was a friend, and a plumber, the idea was thrown around.

The rest is history; Kiwi Showers Ltd was formed.

Duncan Hamilton - Director

Duncan Hamilton Director I have been involved with plumbing for most of my life and have taken over the family business. In my work I am always looking for innovative solutions. The nature of plumbing involves problem solving. A chance discussion with business partner and long time friend Barry led to the development of Aquapole.

Away from plumbing my passion is the outdoors. I enjoy competing in multisport, adventure racing and hunting. I have been successful with the help of my wife and crew Cherryl. I have an operational search dog and looking for people is another great reason to be in the outdoors.

Being with the family in the outdoors has been rewarding and given our children great experiences.

Jeanne Godfrey - Administration

Jeanne Godfrey Born and bred on the West Coast I have been employed in various admin roles in the Banking Industry; Insurance; Legal Secretary; Admin to New Zealand’s first UCI Continental Cycling team and slipping in one of my hobbies, working in a Garden Nursery. Besides keeping tabs on Kiwi Showers, I along with my husband Barry, are Administration managers for several companies.

Barry and I made the shift from Hokitika to Christchurch in 1998 after our two sons had finished their secondary schooling. Our eldest son went on to follow his passion of cycling and through this we travelled watching him compete for NZ in Commonwealth Games, World Cups & Olympic Games. In 1998 he became World Champion in the Omnium Event in track cycling. Our youngest son lives in Auckland and he is also a NZ Champion in cycling in the Time Trial although chose to pursue a career in Aircraft Engineering. Our two sons also work in partnership running a sports clothing business.

When time permits I enjoy walking, cycling, going to the gym, cooking and looking after my large garden.

My greatest joys are my grandchildren; Cooper and Evie..
